The expert session is an interactive talk forum for experts and delegates from respective committees in the conference to interact with one another. Experts usually share their insights on agendas and strategies to tackle real world issues. This session is held on day two and three of the conference. Officials from the Embassy, UN agencies, SAARC, Government of Nepal, Diplomatic missions, Civil Society and Media with the expertise on diverse fields are invited to facilitate the sessions in diverse topics. 

In EIMUN 2024, ten expert sessions took place in the five committees UNSC, UNESCO, FAO, UNWOMEN and UNEP for two agendas each. In UNSC Committee, the expert session for the agenda “Exploring the Security Ramifications of Novel Technologies: Artificial Intelligence (AI)” was led by Mr. Deepayan Basu Ray, Director of UNRCPD Nepal and the agenda “Addressing Myanmar’s Humanitarian and Security Crisis to Restore Stability” was facilitated by Mr. Luma Singh, Legal Protection Unit, UNHCR

Similarly, Ms. Nirjana Sharma, Program Coordinator from UNESCO Nepal facilitated the expert session on the agenda, “Combating Digital Misinformation and and Fostering Media Literacy” and Ms. Nabha Basnyat Thapa on the agenda, “Enhancing global collaboration to safeguard and maintain cultural landmarks and historical monuments” in the UNESCO Committee. 

The FAO Committee had Ms. Racchya Shah, National Consultant- Forest and Farm Facility Facilitator (Specialist) from FAO Nepal for the agenda, “Preserving agricultural biodiversity and safeguarding the flow of genetic resources for food and agriculture” and Mr. Sabin Lamichhane, National Youth Engagement Specialist from FAO Nepal on the agenda, “Promoting Youth Engagement to Enhance Resilience and Sustainability in the Agrifood System amidst Environmental Challenges”

In the UN WOMEN Committee, Ms. Subha Ghale, Programme Analyst from UN WOMEN Nepal led the session on the agenda, “Evaluating the Effectiveness of Current Initiatives in Promoting Women’s Involvement in Peace and Security” and Ms. Shobita Gautam, Member of Parliament on the agenda “Addressing Structural Barriers to Enhance Women’s Participation in Political Candidacy and Governance”. Furthermore, the expert sessions in UNEP Committee was led by Mr. Ram Prasad Dhital, Electricity Policy, Regulatory, and Renewable Energy Expert on the agenda “Promoting Sustainable Energy Transition in Developing Countries through Collaborative Initiatives” and Mr. Bhesh Raj Thapa, Associate Professor at Universal Engineering and Science College on the agenda, “Promoting Sustainable Water Management and Enhancing International Cooperation to protect Blue Ecosystem”.
